Meet the team

Born and raised in Chula Vista, Janet Gutierrez graduated with honors from UC San Diego in 2005 on the Engelhorn Family Scholarship. She earned her Juris Doctor in 2009 from California Western School of Law, where she received the California Western Biodiversity Scholarship.

During law school, Janet clerked at several San Diego firms across a range of practice areas — preparation for founding her own. She launched Gutierrez & Associates in 2009.

Today she focuses primarily on family law: divorce, legal separation, annulment, child custody and visitation, child and spousal support, and domestic violence restraining orders. Under the mentorship of noted family law attorney Anton L. Georghiou, she provides compassionate and strategic legal guidance to families navigating life's most challenging moments.

Outside the practice, she stays active in the San Diego legal community and represents clients in both English and Spanish.

Her approach is direct: clients deserve clear timelines, real options, and an attorney who tells them what they need to hear.
